The moon is in the waning Gibbous (Galliard) Moon phase (65% full).

Mid-afternoon brings a moderately cheerful Jeremiah back into the Library, slipping in the front door quietly with a bag full of leftover Chinese food from one of the city's restaurants. There's no words even as he comes into the common areas, just a fair amount of looking around for whomever might be around. It seems that not too long before finding lunch, the ahroun was out on his daily run.

The *thump* shuffle shuffle that marks Maddie's descent from upstairs is audible as the Ahroun is coming in, though it takes her a little while to get all the way down to the common area. Whether she saw him from the roof or just heard the door, she doesn't seem overly surprised to see him, offering a friendly wave in greeting.

Jeremiah stands at the kitchen area unloading the spoils of the adventure for food, and waves back. C-h-i-n-e-s-e food, he signs, grinning. Used rite you taught me, after finding it.

Maddie bobs her head, smiling. Good, good, she signs. Then he has done his part to thank the spirits and to make them just a bit stronger. Her nostrils flare as she takes in the smell. "Fresh, too. Maddie would guess not more than a few hours old."

Jeremiah nods. Was in a bag, protected. Had been looking for other things, but found this. Better than other things, other things not food. Jeremiah doesn't seem to particularly mind whatever he hasn't found, either. The ahroun moves to take out two bowls, looking towards the theurge in brief question. "Want some?" he asks aloud, without particular care as to the annoying quality of his own voice at the moment.

Maddie signs: Sometimes the best things to find are not food. They can always use their gift to eat, if need be. Not that she's complaining that it wasn't necessary, mind you, given that she signs 'please' in response to his question.

The ahroun just grins again, somewhere halfway between feral and normal as he dishes out the food into the two bowls. There's some chow mein, some beef of some sort, half-full containers, some rice. "Was looking just for interesting things," he says, as his hands are still occupied carrying the food to the microwave to eat. "Mostly I look to pass time, to find what there is." Hands free, the ahroun adds, a lot of time to spend. Productive is better than angry.

Maddie turns her attention to her food, switching over to speaking aloud, since she's got a fork in one hand and her bowl in the other. "If there were more of the tribe here, Maddie would suggest a contest to see who could find the best things. Even with so few, though, she wonders if he found any good decorations to add?" She gestures to the various colorful odds and ends that she's set up around the place, which are both decor and objects she can use in the defense of the library if the need arises.

Jeremiah nods, carrying his own bowl over to the area of the couch. "A few," he says. Raising and manners show in how he eats, carefully and deliberately and properly and without any thought into that manner whatsoever. Mirror pieces, and the frame from it, too. Mostly along staircase, he indicates, and the shards of mirror he points at have been hung such that they catch the light, occasionally coloured on with sharpies, though not very well. Some pieces of other things, mostly architectural debris with interesting shapes. Pick up one or two as I run, bring them back when I come here every other day or so.

Maddie, as usual, inhales her food, and isn't remotely embarrassed to lick the bowl clean afterward, belching her appreciation afterward. With the bowl empty, she moves over to the sink to wash up her dishes. She does look over to the staircase, bobbing her head approvingly as he points out which ones are his additions. "Now that they have their nests upstairs—she should see about summoning Pigeon to start adding to their defenses on the other side, as well."

The ahroun nods. Jeremiah knows more about pigeon from building the nests and talking with her, than he ever did before, he signs, grinning. In between signing, he continues to plow away at the food. He found a few more things for the nests, though they are still out near the bridge. Will bring them tonight, later.

Maddie signs that she looks forward to seeing them. She will call on any of the members of the tribe who wish to join in when she does the summoning, so he will be able to meet Pigeon soon enough. And perhaps deal with the source of the tainted pigeons that he dealt with, and that she has encountered several times since.

Jeremiah gets up when his bowl is empty, carrying it over to the sink and going back to speaking rather than signing. "So there were more of them." Squeaky and annoyed. "I think I saw the thing on the news about smoke bombs." Were those pigeons? he signs, after.

Maddie says, "They were. Maddie has dealt with them twice more. Once out near the clubs—the smoke bombs he heard of—and a second time in the park. She tried to cleanse them the first time, but they had been tainted too long for the banes to be driven out safely." The Theurge sounds a little sad about this.

Mm. It's half a sound, half the noncommittal nod and signing of 'yeah' as the ahroun listens. Would like to deal with wherever the banes are coming from, he admits. Otherwise there will just be more smoke-pigeons someday if we do not.

Maddie says, "If they are lucky, Pigeon will be able to give them enough information to act. If not, well, Maddie will have to think of something else." Changing the topic, she asks, "She wonders if he has spoken with any of the other tribal elders as yet?"

Jeremiah shakes his head from one side to the other. "Not yet," he says. "But Charlene's goin' a help me get in touch with whoever is in charge of her folk here." There's a shrug, and it's clear that though Jeremiah has been working on making at least progress, he's in no big hurry. "And I want t' see about talkin' with Mouse-rhya soon, too, that's…" That one seems to trouble him. "Would rather have more t' offer her, though."

Maddie considers. "Maddie wonders if he made any strong connections with the Bone Gnawers in the sept that he left? Or at least strong enough that he might be able to offer them chiminage to come here and visit her for a short while? Because if he did, he could be very helpful to the Mouse."

The ahroun tilts his head to one side, and lifts his shoulders. "Not many ties. In Vegas a few, a few down South. I didn't stay put long 'nough, mostly, kept movin' on when I couldn't sleep at night for not doin' 'nough. Left a place 'fore anyone got too interested, killed stuff, an' didn' make waves, until I got thrown back here. But from Vegas, maybe."

Maddie says "If he could perform chiminage for someone there, someone who knows either the Rite of the Opened Bridge or the Rite of Luna's Spear, and who would be willing to come here and teach her, then he would have done a service not only for the Mouse, but also for the sept. So far as she knows, those rites have fallen out of use at the Hidden Walk."

Jeremiah nods, thinking silently for a while. He knows many people in Las Vegas, he signs. I will probably need to go there, however, to find out if they are still in Vegas and to ask. There are many things in Las Vegas that still need to be done, that he can do.

Maddie says, "Something for him to consider, at least, and if it does not work, then perhaps Maddie can help him think of something different."

Jeremiah smiles, more relaxed. It might work, he signs. And if nothing else he will have tried, and perhaps will get to see friends in Las Vegas as well. Water? The question comes as Jeremiah gets himself some, too, ever present but gentle deference in offering to get some for the fostern first. And then it is Jeremiah's turn to change the topic. Has she seen the collapsed building? I saw the note, but have not seen it. I should spread word to offer to go as back-up, if anyone needs.

Maddie repeats the same sign that she used for the food when offered water: 'Please.' "Maddie has seen the message as well, but she has not visited the building yet. She intends to go, although she expects that one of the Glass Walkers will want to take the lead on the investigation. Still, perhaps she will be able to help."

Two glasses of cold water are fetched, poured out from a bottle from the fridge, the bottle set aside to be refilled at some point. Then Jeremiah retakes his seat before continuing, with a nod. I will go, but am better at killing things than finding out why things are dead-dying, he signs. But whatever is causing dead-dying should be reason for… he pauses, searching for a sign for a moment, then just says, "For caution and organising. Groups, so no one's alone."

"Maddie does not think that something that could strike so powerfully at the Weaver in its own domain is something to be taken lightly," she agrees. "She can think of ways that it could be accomplished, but none that would be easy." She accepts the water, taking a swallow as she considers further.

Jeremiah downs half of his glass of water as he listens, and nods, then furrows his brow and makes a face, not discontent, just a face. And then Jeremiah points upstairs. Shower, he signs as he gets up to his feet. Was running. Will see you later. There's a brief smile, and then Jeremiah moves to collect his jacket and go upstairs.
